Last night I attended the launch for Foot Locker’s first House of Hoops store in Canada. Toronto has it’s fair share of sneaker boutiques and more than it’s share of sneakerheads and while I have many opinions on how the game is right now, this is going to be good for the city. I can’t forget how when I was younger with a thirst for footwear, I had to travel to get what I wanted. As in, go to New York, or Atlanta where I had family, as eBay wasn’t what it was at that point.
Personally, the fact that Foot Locker and Nike are actually stepping up to contribute to the game is great. Is there more that they can do, without question, and they will be called to task. But for a night with Young Guru on the 1’s and 2’s, a ton of familiar faces and a lot of heat in one room, it definitely felt like a gathering of like-minded soles souls.
I know from what I’ve seen and based on what I’ve been told, this is going to be a serious home for kicks, and I think Toronto will be very happy about that. Not taking anything away from the independent spots that have kept the community going, but they weren’t getting size runs, or colourways of basketball performance footwear. A place like this will be able to do some great things on a number of levels, which is only going to help the game… and people’s feet.

Our man Cory Joseph (San Antonio Spurs) was rocking these at the studio on Friday when we recorded that new episode of 1 On 1 http://bit.ly/PSbCAR
Why run? I’m on the precipice of getting back into this. This video from Nike China offers some good reasons why.
Jordan: Love The Game spot, CP3, Melo and Wade take their game to various runs, the Senior League, Women’s League, Williamsburg Pick-up game, Jewish Under 40, etc. Gotta love it! (via JE Skeets)
The Nike Hachi, a sneaker inspired by the classics. I’m thankful Nike didn’t just bang out another hybrid of old shoes we don’t need.
The mini-movie is finally out. Kobe Bryant is The Black Mamba.
Nike & Sophnet are back with another clever look book for their FCRB line. Previously using mannequins as models, if it ain’t broke… Brilliant in concept and execution, it forces the proverbial double take.
Lebron James gets the Seth McFarlane treatment. What happens when the sneaker is on the other foot? Almost makes you think about how good you treat your sneakers?

Just finished watching District 13: Ultimatum on rental. I saw the first one at TIFF years ago… awesome. If you don’t know anything about parkour, David Belle gives you a lil demonstration in this tight Nike spot.
Dentures not included.
This is me once a year, but I know others who do this on the regular… props to them.
MINDGAMES director Casey Neistat’s new short movie. Written years ago when Casey first started running, the short explores the mind games runners face and the ideas one focuses on while the body is giving it all. Made while he trained in NYC for the New York Marathon this year, Casey carried a small HD video camera with him on runs for 3 weeks to shoot the movie.
